Mission Public Schools SD#75 is seeking a caring, creative, and innovative leader with exemplary teaching and leadership experience for a Grade 7 to 9 middle school with a population average of 775 students for the upcoming school year. The Vice Principal will work alongside other positive, enthusiastic, and compassionate members of the District Leadership Team to achieve the District’s strategic goals. Ideal candidates are engaged, visionary thinkers with a strong student-centered approach

RESPONSIBILITIES

Courageous leadership with respect to student learning across diverse cultural and economic environments

Facilitate collaboration and demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of instructional pedagogy pertaining to the BC curriculum, assessment, and reporting practices in diverse and inclusive classroom environments

Facilitate relationships and connections with students, parents, staff, district staff, community partners and Indigenous stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability, experience, and understanding to provide support and supervision of staff to enhance their growth as professionals

Exceptional interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Creative and inclusive problem-solving approaches.

Demonstrated commitment to a consultative, teamwork approach involving students, parents, school staff and the community.

Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with students, employees, parents, and the community.

Demonstrated leadership and motivation of a diverse team of individuals.

Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the First Peoples Principles of Learning and inclusive practices.

Demonstrated commitment to healthy schools and communities

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth and distributed leadership

Strong organizational and management skills, including financial and operational

Demonstrated good judgement in assessing and acting on organizational strengths and needs

Proven ability to establish and maintain a positive, cooperative and caring school community

Demonstrated effectiveness in problem solving, conflict management and mediation

Demonstrated understanding of middle school curriculum

Demonstrated understanding of equity-based approaches and culturally safe practices

Demonstrated understanding and experience supporting learners with disabilities and diverse needs

Knowledge and experience with educational technology applications.

Great sense of humor would be an asset

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch certification or eligibility

Master’s degree or enrollment in a Master’s program in an appropriate educational field

Valid BC driver’s license

EXPERIENCE

School based administrative experience is required, preferably in middle school environment.

Extensive knowledge and/or experience in middle school education.
